Company Description

BSL Direct Sales Inc, is a 60-year-old, family owned, window, door, showers and baths sales and installation company seeking a hands-on and dynamic accountant expert. With locations in Rochester and Buffalo, NY, Wonder Windows, Showers & Baths is growing rapidly. In this role, you will be responsible for the accounting functions of Wonder, Showers & Baths including A/R, A/P, inventory, fixed assets, financial reporting, bank & credit card reconciliation, and intercompany transactions.

Job Brief

The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports are accurate, complete, timely, and conform to standards defined within the organization and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Staff Accountant is expected to continually propose and develop process improvement that will further drive value in Wonder’s financial reporting. This is a hands-on position. The Staff Accountant does not have direct reports, however there is an established team of accounting/admin staff to collaborate with.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Represent and instill the company’s Core Values.
  • Ensure accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports are accurate, complete, timely, and conform to standards defined within the organization and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly operating cash flow including daily bank reconciliations.
  • Review detailed records of Trial Balance accounts to prepare and enter adjusting journal entries into accounting software.
  • Initiate monthly inventory reconciliation for all applicable departments. Ensure that employees are accountable for their roles and verify that the collected data is accurate.
  • Prepare monthly close functions for review with CFO.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and present leadership with monthly financial reports.
  • Review/check weekly payroll prepared by HR Manager and process associated payments (401K, PFL, etc.).
  • Allocate and record intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare and file sales tax filings.
  • Manage credit, gas, and oil change cards and approve employee company expenses.
  • Assist CFO and external accountants in year end review and tax preparation.
    • Work with CFO to develop and implement accounting/finance process improvements.
    • Assist, collaborate with, and back up other accounting staff including A/P, A/R, Purchasing, Finance to ensure the company's books and records are consistently accurate and up to date.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis/reporting and other accounting tasks as assigned by CFO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Ability to communicate, present, and influence all levels of the organization including Executive & C-Level
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (construction/home improvement experience a plus).
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills. Strong Excel skills a must.
  • QuickBooks and ERP experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
